Lavender Grosso, lavandula intermedia 'Grosso', is the most fragrant of all the lavenders. Grosso Lavender is a Lavandin which refers to the (French) hybrid varieties that are commonly grown in France and used in scenting perfumes and making sachets. Because of its exceptional abundance of long spikes of deep violet flowers that stand well above the gray/green compact foliage, it makes the grosso a remarkable addition to any garden. The Grosso Lavender is the most cold hardy of the French Hybrid Lavenders.
Like the other lavenders that are grown for the fragrance, they are widely used for their mid-summer beauty and their resistance to heat and drought. Grosso is the perfect plant for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden.
